Class Materials

You will need to come to class equipped with the following items EVERY DAY:

  • A good attitude
  • Respect for teachers, the school equipment, other people, and yourself
  • A mind ready to learn
  • A writing utensil, ready to use
  • A notebook of paper for:
    • taking notes
    • completing assignments
  • A folder to keep your notes organized are ready to refer back to

Week 9 (Dec 11-15): Make-Up Week/Project 1

  • Week 9 will be used as a Make-Up week.
    • This will give all students a change to go back and complete assignments that they did not complete on time.
    • Assignments from all weeks will be accepted during this time.
    • Grades will be re-figured based on assignments turned in.

 

  • Students who do not have Make-Up work, or who finish early:
    • Choose your favorite Office program.
      • Use that program to create a project.
      • In this project, you will research and study the history or purpose of Columbus Day.
    • Choose a topic and ask approval from your teacher.
    • Your project may be displayed on our school web page if we have a signed permission slip from your parents.
      • Remember, when something in on the Web, ANYONE can read it:
        • Make sure your information is accurate.
        • Make sure you use correct and polite grammar.
    • Be Creative. Use your imagination to display the information
    • Make sure you cite ALL of your work. The information in your project should be as accurate as possible.

Here are some examples of how you might use each of the programs we learned about:

    Microsoft Word
    Microsoft PowerPoint
    • Write a report on your topic.
      • Make sure you include a Works Cited page where you list ALL of the resoureces you use (books, websites, etc.)
      • You may add pictures to decorate your report.
        • If you use picutres, make sure you cite it by including its source information in your Works Cited page.
          • Website where you downloaded the picture
          • Clipart Gallary where you located picture
    • Create a slide show about your topic
      • Include pictures
        • make sure you site all pictures
      • Include a bulleted list of major events in his life
      • Use your creativity to set up layout and color schemes
       
    Microsoft Excel
    Microsoft Access
    • Create timeline of important events in your topic
      • Include personal and historical events
      • Include pictures where necessary
    • Create a budget based on the economic status during the time period during your topic
      • Include items that were necessities for people of the time period
      • Include pictures where necessary
     
    • Create a book list of biographical and historical literature about the life and times of your topic
      • Include authors, copyright dates, and pictures
      • Include short summary of book
      • Rate books based on levels:
        • Importants
        • Accuracy
        • Interest
      • Include possible locations for finding books (Amazon.com, local library)
